4 reasons to be excited about anatomy

January 31, 2016February 2, 2017Leave a comment

2016-01-31 18.56.59I’ve done a bit of moaning about anatomy lately as I struggled through my homework outlining all the bones, joints, and muscles in the shoulder and pelvic girdles (and trust me, there are a lot of them!). It’s like learning a whole new language. But the main thing I’m learning is how amazing our bodies are. Here are my top 4 reasons to be excited about anatomy. Continue reading →

C h a i r Y o g a 🪑🧘🏻‍♀️ I spent this afternoon doing some top-up training about teaching chair yoga! It was great to learn from @dinamedina108 who generously shared her knowledge with us. I now have lots more ideas about how to adapt my teaching in different ways. This will be useful for all kinds of reasons and particularly for people with less mobility, low energy, recovering from or living with illness, office-based yoga, and during pregnancy. I’m looking forward to incorporating some of the ideas into my teaching! . . . #chairyoga #goldendooryoga #accessibleyoga #yogaforall #yogateacher #yogastudent #keeplearning #chairyogatraining #yogaforeverybody #yogaforchronicillness #inspired #yogacpd #peachyoga
Home again after a really wonderful day at the BWY London Yoga Festival - it lived up to expectations! There was such an amazing line-up of teachers and the four sessions I went to were all so different, exploring varying interpretations of “Kriya” (action through yoga, or, the yoga of action). 🌷First exploring the lines of action in the fascia of the body with Doug Keller @dougsyoga (where I found all the places my fascia feels “stuck” since pregnancy...). 🌷 Then teachings from #BernardBouanchaud about traditional meditation techniques to help us develop the discipline, self-reflection and acceptance needed to take wise action. 🌷 In the afternoon I loved learning from Lisa Kaley-Isley @lckaley_isley again, who reminded us that yoga is practiced on the mat but lived off the mat, and of the importance of community and connection. Bringing together wisdom from the Yoga Sutras, and a subtle, unique and heating asana and mantra practice. 🌷 Finally a session on “active tenderness” with @eunicelaurel - gentle intuitive movement exploring our relationship with space, ourselves, and others. And the rose and orange in this photo are the sweet-smelling treats we were given at the close of a nourishing Yoga Nidra to end the day. As far as goodie bags go, I’d say this one lives up to it’s name! Just arrived at BWY London Yoga Festival and I am so happy to be here - the first yoga thing I’ve been to since my daughter was born 18 months ago. Feels like coming back to myself 😊 . . . #londonyogafestival #GoodieBag #Freebies #GoodBooks #EatNatural #Meditation #ForestBathing #ComeHomeToYourself #YogaMama #PukkaTea
I don’t usually quote myself, pahaha 😂 but I was just re-reading an old blog post called “Will Yoga Make Me Happy?” and found this snippet to be a good reminder to myself! . . #WorldMentalHealthDay2019 #WorldMentalHealthDay #WMHD2019 #ThisIsMyYoga #YogaMagic #EffortAndEase #PeachYoga #YogaTeacher #TeachWhatYouNeedToLearn #BeWell #YogaForMentalHealth #WhatIsYoga #NoQuickFixes #YogaMama #YogaQuotes #YogaInspiration #YogaIs
