“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured, and endure what cannot be cured” – B.K.S. Iyengar
There are so many benefits of a regular yoga practice – here are just a few:
Yoga helps us be at ease in our bodies, giving us energy, balance, strength and flexibility.
Moving with the breath can help us calm the mind, increase our emotional resilience, and navigate the stresses of modern life.
Yoga can help with insomnia, fatigue, chronic illness and pain.
How we are on the mat is often how we are in life. Yoga helps us know ourselves better.
- Yoga teaches us to be mindful and present in our lives and to get in touch with our intuition and inner wisdom.
- Yoga guides us to accept and appreciate ourselves as we are and have compassion for others as they are.
Neuroscientific research is only just beginning to uncover and explain how yoga works, and I love hearing about these findings and how they overlap with the ancient yoga philosophy. I like to keep up with this emerging research so don’t be surprised if you find me sharing some of this in my teaching and my writing!
